Terry started eye therapy a couple of weeks ago. The therapy along with his new glasses look very promising for him returning to flying. He needs to contact ALPA aeromedical and work with them on getting his 1st class medical certification back, and then he can return to Alaska. He has spoken with the chief pilot there, and they are looking forward to having him back on the line.
Bethany decided that she wanted to get a different job. Alaska will be cutting 7 flights into PDX in a month or so and will probably be cutting their staff here. She now has the lowest seniority since coming back to Alaska last fall, so she figures she will be one of the first to go. So she applied at Kaiser Permanente for a scheduling position and was hired. She will be the person that staff members on the East side of Portland will be calling when they won't be coming to work, and she will be responsible for getting someone to work in their place. She had a lot of experience with this at Alaska. Great thing is that she will have regular hours, M-F 6am-2 and be making almost twice what she was at Alaska. It's nice to have something good happen for her.
Bethany and Taryn, along with Bethany's good friend Janie, took one last trip to Hawaii. Alaska flies there now. But they ended up having to buy tickets to get home. Perhaps with Aloha Airlines shutting down, all the flights filled up. So it wasn't as good of a deal as they were planning on. But all in all they had a good time.
